            Effective sessions are not an accident. A well-planned workshop, coupled with effective meeting leadership, can accomplish concrete objectives. Saving everyone time, and leading to a sense of accomplishment.

            Clients use workshops for a variety of tasks:

• Problem identification and prioritization.
• Setting common objectives.
• Increasing buy-in, getting everyone on the same page.
• Communications of new procedures, or working the bugs out.

            Most problem solving workshops are one or two days in duration. Typically, the first day is spent brainstorming and collecting data. Letting everyone think about items overnight, the second day is usually used to prioritize actions and plans.

            A draft report or presentation to senior management is often scheduled at the end of the workshop. This provides a sense of urgency for the team, and allows immediate feedback and further sponsorship for the actions being recommended.

            Larger undertakings, like process redesign , might take six to eight weeks.
